There were only two females in the whole bunch. Played around with an underwater camera for the first time, that gave an interesting perspective into what goes on down there. Nov 2 - Nick Mehalco four walleyes 18-21 inches, jigging with 5/8's oz chartruse fuzzy grubs/minnow in the slot on West side of Celeron Island. The eyes shut down by 10:00 am once the sun came out. It was good to finally meet Sparky who was hauling in the Perch. Tightlines! Nov 2 - Mike Barkley Spent a great day in Huron with Bob Clark, Greg Warsow & John Lewandowski. Started slow (1st fish after 11:30) but we were back at the hotel by 5:30 with 16 beauties (a couple in the 8 lb range!) Lost a few nice ones, boated a steelhead and lost a few. Tried a lot until we found that they wanted chartreuse Reef Runners and went with them. 42 FOW, 60 ft back, 1.5/2 mph. Beautiful day, good friends and GREAT fishing, can't beat that!!!!!
Oct 31 - Rick Malechuk Monday ,5 to 7 got 2 handlining, one #9 Rapala fl. org. , other on yellow spoon org. dots, Lost 2, fished N&E of Mud Island & Hennepin Pt. Tuesday got skunked .Perch fisherman, South of Grassy, staying out late, don't know if they are doing any good, but they are there when I start and still there when I quit. Water at 54 ,think it is over or needs to cool off more? Oct 30 - Mark Schaller After going bass fishing yesterday morning I felt the need to go out and catch something I could eat. Headed down to the channel and picked up a couple on a #9 Rapala, custom painted to look like all the 2-3 inch smallies that have invaded the river. Also lost a BIG one, never got it off the bottom. Surface temp was 54 degrees and the water was clear and weed free. Oct 23 - Rick Malechuk Got 5 by Grassy and Fighting Island. Started at 6pm, after about 30 minutes and one smallmouth, figured only I was washing bottom of boat as it sat in mud by the dock during all the wind days. Right at sundown lost 2 on spoons (yellow/org dots-5ft lead), then held one. next 45 minutes got 1 on #9 rap , 3 on pencil plugs , bright perch(2), red head, white body, black spots (1), 15 & 30 ft leads ,water 60.5F Oct 23 - Doug Mashke Lake Simcoe is at its best right now lots of 13". 26 to 31 feet water just go where boats are. Oct 13 - Mark Schaller Went perch fishing with my friend Chris this morning. We ended up north of Sugar Island and we kept 28 perch in about 8 feet of water. We threw back a handful, the biggest was 13, a few around 12 and the majority around 10 inches long. We stayed out until noon and came in once the wind started to pick up. Oct 9 - Bruce Snyder Fri. - Too nice to stay home! Fished all day using bottom bouncers and spinners and finally located some walleyes north of Calf Island. We ended up with 3 eyes, lost 2 nice ones, and a bonus was a jumbo 14inch perch. Everybody I talked to was doing about the same or worse. They moved out from places they were the week before. Oct 9 - Mike Zielinski I covered the Cabela's Masters Walleye Championship over weekend and was amazed at the catches of huge walleyes. Most boats limited using spinners and worms out near Pelee Island and also off Kelly's over 3O feet of water. Color not an issues but active fish were high in water column at times. Pro's stated lots of fish in front of Bolles Harbor in dirty water but they were all small, 4 lbs. or less. Those who found isolated pods took heaviest fish. Ideal fishing conditions but these will change soon. Mike Zielinski
Oct 6 - Rick
Malechuk Last Night 8-10pm, by Mud island, 2 guys, right
away, both caught one at same time, #11 Rapalas, black-gold,& fl
orange, then fought weeds, too much work, went to n end of fighting isle,
no weeds, only one fish though., 20ft of water, pencil plug , bright perch
pattern. Oct 6 - Mark Schaller Went out to the channel last night to pull some wire. Picked up 3 and lost one, I seem to have forgotten how to flip a walleye in the boat. A #7 Chartreuse/silver Rap and a #9 Hot Steel produced the fish. Also caught the same anchor line I managed to hook a couple of weeks ago. Weeds were terrible and the surface temp is between 68 and 72 degrees. Oct 5 - John Sparkman Canadian limit above #62 buoy #-7 hot steel and #-7 GFR gold fluorescent red not orange Oct 4 - Rick Malechuk 2 of us 5-8pm ,same area, total of 4, 1 jiggin, red shad worm , 2 on Rapalas, #9 fl.org.& clown,1 on orange pencil plug . Oct 3 -Ken Serwatowski Sept 30th, wind was a killer but managed to pick up some decent walleye straight out in front of the metropark on chartreuse spinners and crawlers. Marking fish but boat control was hard with the south wind, kicker motor broke so only had the bowmount which hardly could push my boat in the conditions, heading back out this week to see if its any better, Ken Oct 2 - Rick Malechuk 2of us, partner was 1 for 3 jiggin ,6pm-7pm power worm red shad 4", me 0, handlined 7pm-8:30pm, partner was 2 for 3, I got a double, we caught 2 on clown Rapala, and 2 on pencil plugs (red head, white body with black spots). 6 ft and 30 ft leads. All fish ~2.5lbs. Correction on my 9/27 report , fish caught between 8&10pm, not 8-10 lbs (I wish), were also ~2lbs.Same area west side Fighting Island. Weeds still a pain, water 66F Sept 30- Gene Wellman Sunday Launched at Erie Metro Park approx. 8:30 a.m. starting handling at the stacks nothing but weeds. Headed north wife caught first walleye in front of Elizabeth Launch around 10:00.a.m. on firetiger scorpin spoon on 20' lead, fish was 20" 3# female with just the start of eggs. Fished up to McClouth Steel must of caught 50 3"-6" smallies all on spoons. I finally caught the second walleye near the end of mill in the channel on same spoon as first. Fish was 18" and weighted 2#,nothing found inside it. Continued to fish the entire are until approx. 2:30 p.m. and headed for home. Only a few other walleye boats fishing with no success. Didn't try for perch, water got rough and we only saw a few back at the launch, many we talked to said water too rough to keep boats anchored. Would like to see more reports posted here, we travel 140 miles one wayand need help locating them, thanks to John Sparkman for all the help he has given us over the phone. Sept 27 - Rick Malechuk Got 4 Thurs. 7-9p, got 2, 8-10lbs on Sat., north of Fighting and Grassy on Pencil Plugs. Tough catchin! Sept 27 - John Sparkman I promised some reports here we go On The Canadian side above 52 buoy we got 5, 1 by Edison 2 by Mclouth. They are there you have to wait em out to bite. Caught on #7 hoy steel and flyntiger spoons Hey go gettum Sept 26 - Rick Malechuk Have been getting 3-4 walleyes,5-7pm, West side of Fighting Island between white semaphore and water intake 25-31" 4" brown rubber and 4" fin-s perch Sept 23 - Greg Warsow - Perch fishing with Don Kwasny & John Fulmer. Took a few around Powder House Island and both sides of the Cross Dike, nothing exciting. Decided to run to Colchester about 11:00 am on a East wind. Went to the same spot as the day before and started catching fish. Fished until we ran out of minnows at 4:30 pm. Caught a 122 perch with size better than the day before. 3-4 footers. Sept 22 - Greg Warsow John Lewandowski and I went to Colchester. Caught our limits in perch (100). Some had good size and the rest were eaters. Great Day! Sept 23 John Sparkman Hi everyone I have been up fishing King salmon in Manistee lake. We landed 56 in 11 days don't see many fishing reports guess I will have to go get some this week. Saw a DWF sticker on a boat that I did not get close enough to say hi, who were you as I did not recognize the boat Sept 14 - Mark Schaller Took out Mark Bodrie last night to do a little handlining. We picked up 3 and lost one at the boat. All down in the channel, no special color, no special size. Lots of floating weeds on the west side of the river Sept 10 - Dan Porter Pulled harnesses Sunday S.W. of canoe hole. Walleye slow, not sure why, conditions seemed perfect. Caught 2 and lost 1. Wind out of N.E., lots of grass. Did pull right through the perch fishing group and caught a 40" muskie. Caught all on red bead gold blade harness. Sept 5 - Chris Hare Friday, Aug. 31, NE wind. Fished east of Celeron Isl., caught 8 eyes in 11-13 ft. Bottom bouncers. Lost almost as many. Caught 3 more between Celeron and Grosse Ile in channel. Lost just as many. We took home our two man limit. 4 hrs. of fishing. Good eating. Sept 4 - Dan Porter Haven't fished in over 2 years. Fished S.W. of hole in wall 12'-13'of water Friday and Monday bouncing purple/pink bead gold blade harnesses, fighting grass whole time, and caught one man limit 3 hrs each day. Most 18-19", a couple 15", and one 21". Found good school yesterday just west of the perch fishing group. Fishing must be good if I'm catching them. Sept 1 - Jerry Hinton Jerry Hinton and Mike Pasik headed out to handline the Trenton Channel this AM and hooked one near the Catamaran and lost it at the boat. After almost 2 hours, we gave up and headed over towards Sugar Island. Stopping at several favorite areas trying jigs tipped with crawlers. Near the hole-in-the wall we hit on a pocket of fish and filled a 2 man limit in about 1 1/2 hours. The fish were all 18-19" What a nice surprise! And we were the only wallie guys there. Several boats were fishing perch near the Powder Keg Island. Aug 23 - Mark Schaller Took one of our new members, Phil (PJ) Kirk, out last night to do a little handlining in the channel. We picked up 3 and lost two before we finally packed it in around 10:30 pm. As one can imagine the water is dirty (nice shade of gray) and there are a lot of weeds still floating down the river. Aug 16 - Mark Schaller Picked up another limit tonight in the channel. Blue/Silver, Chartreuse/Silver were the winning colors tonight. Word must be getting out, there were a few other boats in the area tonight. Beautiful night out tonight and hardly any weeds. Aug 15 - John Sparkman Scored again above #54 buoy, same lures as below. That folks is 6- Canadian side Aug 13 - Paul Doute Sunday - Went out handlining in the AM at the Canadian Coast Guard Station - Started at Buoy 56 and fish entire section to the end of the park north of the Coast Guard facility. 4 for 5 on the walleye. All came on the bottom lead using #7 Black and Silver floating rapala. Fished 24ft flat. Lost a number of fish after a couple of head shakes (time to change or sharpen some hooks). Caught a 4 lb smallie to wrap up the morning. Aug 13 - Paul Doute Saturday - Fished late afternoon for a couple hours on the lake with my daughter Alyssa. Fished 27ft water between Fermi and Pt Au Peax pulling Jet 20s, 50ft back with Stinger spoons - We went 3 for 4 on the lake walleye. Lost one right at the boat. Colors Red Monkey Puke and Confusion; speed 2.0mph to 2.2mph - 50ft back. It was super hot out there with no wind, so we wrap up our lake trip and took a ride to the river to cool off. Ended up heading over to the Amhershburg Channel south of the Coast Guard station. Found fish really close to shore in 15ft. Handlined the remaining 3 walleyes for a Canadian limit. #7 Black and Gold floating Rapala - bottom lead caught all the fish. We caught a number of smallies - biggest 2 lbs. Lots of fun watching Alyssa handline and landing her fish! Aug 12 - Mark Schaller Went out to the channel again last night (8/11) and picked up another limit. Same spot, same colors. Started just around 8:30 and finished up around 10:15 pm. Caught one that was about 25 inches and roughly 4 1/2 pounds. There was another boat out there whipping just outside of the discharge area. Saw them catch one but that was about it. Weeds were bad last night. Aug 12 - Mike Barkley Greg Warsow. John Lew, Bob Frank and I went perchin' this morning. Planned on Colchester but when we started out the sky looked like storms everywhere and the wind was picking up, so we turned around and tried the Cross Dyke. Only managed a couple dinks and the weather cleared so we headed to Colchester. Worked that area and not much so we kept moving. We finally found them by the Helicopter Pad in 30-32 FOW. We ended up with 93 keepers! Aug 7 - John Sparkman Monday 8-6 # 50 buoy limit on # 7 raps same colors as before. Hi Eric, no throw backs in Canada no size limit there unless you want to let em grow up. Aug 5 - Eric Haroldson I jigged a couple hours Sunday morning before the storms hit along the #50 buoy. I caught 3 with one throw-back. When I started the winds were from the East and switched to the North, West, and finally out of the South. It made life a little tough on the trolling motor. I was using a 3" GULP minnow and 1/2oz jig in 32FOW. All of the fish came South of the buoy. Water temp was 78 degrees. Aug 5 - John Bielawski Sparky.. No one in the river because they are all in Wheatley, Ont. Bill Berwick was nice enough to invite us out for a day in Wheatley. 11 for 15 on Steelhead with 10 nice Walleyes as a bonus. Dipseys and Dipsey sliders with orange or purple/white spoons worked well for us. Saw DWF stickers on many of the boats, great fishing over there. Only a few weeks left so if you can get over, you should. - Thanks, Bill Johnny-B-Good. Aug 4 - Paul Doute My brother Ted and I tried to head to the lake in the early AM but my tailbone (fractured) could not stand the waves. Switched to the river by Boblo and handlined Buoy 56 area in 19 to 24ft - 12 for 15 the walleye plus 3 lunker smallies(4-5lbs). Worked 24ft flat between the channel edge and the shore contour. The big smallies were on the channel edge. Walleye were scattered across the flat and along the 19ft contour. A number of the fish we caught were 2 year old fish (15 to 16 inches). Ted had a problem swinging fish in the boat - I think he has been playing too much golf while I have been fishing tournaments! Anyway, #7 Floating Rapala's were the ticket in Orange/Gold; Black/Gold; clown. Thanks Neil for the on the water tip and lures today!

Sparkman 7-31 # 50 buoy 14 raps # 7's Hot steel silver chartreuse
nice fish! Hey Mark you and I are the only handliners anymore. The fish
came fast in the morning July 30- John Hart Art Yaccick, Phil Drum and I went out to enjoy the day fishing. We fished mainly on the Canadian side from the Ambassador Bridge, south. Phil, the master cat-fisher, caught two nice channel cat, WHILE JIGGING, along with a couple of monster Sheepshead. Art and I caught everything from Sheepshead to silver bass to small mouth bass to rock bass to Phil having his line sheared off by who knows what. All in all we caught seven walleyes, lost a couple more. We were using green jig heads and the ole Wyandotte worm. The water was calm, the sun was hot, and the fish were a bitin'. Great time can't wait to do it again July 28 - Charles Britton 14 ft out from Bolles harbor my friend and I caught around 70 white perch kept 13 of the large ones bit on small crawlers + shiners, July 22 - Mark Schaller Dad came down to visit so we went out handlining in the channel last night. Weeds were a bit of a problem but we managed to pick up 7 and we lost a few. All on a #5 clown on a 6 foot lead. Got to watch the fireworks as well while we were fishing. July 21 - Jerry Hinton Mike Pasik and I headed south from Gibraltar out onto Lake Erie this morning. We stopped at 18ft,20ft,24ft, and ended up at 28ft with no walleyes still heading south. Pulled meat and BB's and switched to disc's and spoons. Nada!!! After 3 hrs of searching, we came back to the south end on the Livingston channel and took 5 nice 'eyes jigging with Wyandotte worms and orange jigs. Fish hit hard and swallowed the stingers getting the main hook every time. Sure hope the Lake fishery is not over til fall??? July 19 - John Sparkman Have been getting limit catches on a regular basis below #50 buoy on the Canadian side. That is at the lower end of Boblo using spoons and raps in silver and chartreuse # 7 later early # 9 spoons G.S.C. and flyntiger some really nice fish 2-4 lbs July17 - Mark Schaller Picked up a limit tonight pulling wire down in the channel. Same area as before, just west of the Catamaran. #7 Purple descent and a #5 clown picked up the fish. Also managed to catch a couple of smallies in the 3 to 4 pound range. Roy Burmeister - July 16 Got on the water at Bolles Harbor at the crack of 10:30 a.m., first walleye in the boat at 10:45. Three man Michigan limit by 3:45 p.m in 20 - 21 FOW. Only one throwback, and a few trash fish, including a whopper 7 1/2 pound Sheep. All fish caught within a 3/4 mile circle along the State line out in front of the two-and-a-half stacks. Pulled spoons/minis 100' back, mag hot-n-tots 90 back, wiggle warts 80 back. Tutti-frutti hot-n-tot and perch colored stinger took more than their share, but walter wasn't a fussy eater today. Everything that went over the side caught fish. Great day on the water with a light breeze, no bugs, and plenty of sunshine.
July 16 - Pat
Waite Leon and I went out Sunday to check out that spot
between the Banana Dyke and Stony Point and it appears that the walleye
have vacated it. We were only able to boat 1 walleye in there today. We
moved out to the deeper water straight out from Brest Bay and found the
remainder of a 2 man Ohio limit in 28 FOW. Again the walleye were in a
very small area about the size of a half acre. We pulled meat with 2 ounce
bouncers and Purple seemed to be what they wanted on this day. The winds
were low and the fishing was very easy for the most part. It just took
some time to gather the walleye and get off the water at 3pm.
July13 - Pat
Waite Took Harry Hallmark and myself out at dawn this
morning and started looking in Brest Bay but had nothing there but junk
fish. We moved around the corner between Stoney Point and the Banana Dyke
and were able to boat a two man limit of nice eaters but it took quite a
while. The bite was slow and all of the walleye came out of one small area
in 18 to 19 FOW. The wind was playing musical directions on us so we had
to keep changing around to get with the wind to troll with 2 oz. bouncers
and meat. We were off the water at 5pm. That's a long day for 10 walleye.
We were using purple chartreuse most of the time and that seemed to work
for us. Going out again tomorrow and hope we can find the walleye haven't
moved out of that spot. July10 - Todd Przytula I caught just a Dandy mess of eyes out at the Canoe Hole. I just love that place. It just excites me when I catch fish. I love the Detroit River. July 9 - Chuck Jones We went out Sat. afternoon & fished for about 5 hours in front of Fermi, in 25+ feet of water. Only caught 8 keeper walleye, enough other fish just to keep us out there thinking more were to come. 60' back minis with spoons,no real "popular" colors. with all the heat it still was better than cutting the grass!!!!
July 7 -
John Bielawski I was able to take the whole last week off
and spent a major portion fishing walleye around the Lake Erie area. I
have some reports to share that are more generic in nature. It appears the
major schools are breaking up and the fishing is in smaller pods scattered
across many of the late summer areas. Fish were located in 12-14 FOW near
the banana dike, 18-20 FOW in front of Fermi, and various locations over
weed patches. The spoon bite was not preferred, most fish were caught on
crawlers or cranks, Deep Little Rippers, Warts, and Hot-N-Tots. Best
colors were blue, pink, purple, copper. Almost all fish were at mid water
depth and suspended. Most days we found fish where there were no other
boats. Only had one non-limit trip, all other days we culled fish.
July 6 - Mark Schaller Had some
free time tonight so I decided to go do some handlining. Ran into
Mr. Sparkman down by Edison and after I got the how's, where's, what's,
when's, and why's from him I proceeded to not catch a single fish in the
same area he was fishing. Once it started to get dark I managed to
get a limit in about 45 minutes on a #7 orange Rapala about 150 yards west
of the catamaran. Life is Good. July 3 - Bill Jenks Mon, July 2, 9p.m. to 11:15p.m. Cught 4 eyes on pencil plugs below Edison plant. Had a good time fishing with Brother-in-Law, John. Water was flat, with a slight breeze. Saw only one other boat handlining. Where was everyone at?? July 1 - Chuck Jones Sat afternoon we went out with some friends infront of Lunia Pier. 1 walleye after about 1 hour on spoons. Pulled lines and went to "E" bouy and finished out the day. Spoons 60' back. "hotrod" was the best with a black & orange then confusion. July 1 - Chris Hare Friday, June 29th, fished west side of Celeron Island, caught my limit in 2.5 hrs. Bottom bouncer, silver/green/chartreuse bladed harness. All around 19 inches. Lost several other walleye and caught 3 undersize. White bass are gone. Weeds aren't bad yet. July 1 - John Sparkman Wed AM 2 person limit Edison hot water discharge Above it
June 28- Jerry Hinton, Mike Pasik and
Johnny Mack headed due south out of Gibraltar about noon. At 4:15, we were
back in Gibraltar with 3 man Ohio limit. BB's(3oz) and meat on the bottom
and in-lines(1oz) with big blades 50' back. Purple blades w/lime beads and
Gold blades w/red beads did best. Speed was 1.5-1.8 sog. Most of the fish
were in 28-30 fow. Flat calm, not often when you can run home as fast as
you want to, or your wallet will let you. June 26 - Roy Burmeister Launched out of Erie Metro and caught a two-man Michigan limit in 22 - 24 FOW South of Bell Bouy at 2 - 2.5 mph (GPS) pulling spoons and mini disks behind planer boards. Also caught a couple on a fire tiger mag Hot-n-Tot. Couple throw backs and a couple of cull backs all in about four and a half hours. Nice day out there. June 25 - Chuck Britton Sterling State Park to 19 ft pulling green crawler harness's 7:30 am to 12:00. 7 eyes - 1.6mph fish moved out next day 25 ft in front of Fermi that being Sat. Sun found them 28 ft still in front of Fermi good luck, June 25 -
John Bielawski Went fishing with Eric Haroldson, his neighbor
and small son. Only got in a couple hours out of fairness for the little
guy. Fished south of the bell bouy, pulled in 11 fish in the short time.
Used spoons (silver with purple stripes) on 20 jets, 55 back, and a purple
iridescence tail dancer 75 back. We caught most fish in 24 FOW at 1.8 to
2.0 mph. June 25 - Chuck Jones Started out in front of Luna Pier 13-14 feet of water, stayed there till 9:30. Caught 5 on spoons 45 feet back. It was suggested that after 9:00 the fishing shuts down, so Then ran to "E" marker & finished up with 3 person limit. There we ran spoons 60' back and were in 20-25 feet of water. Bloody nose, Hot Rod and Confusion were the best colors. June 24 - Marty Myers Went out on Greg Warsow's boat. We ran bb's/w crawler harnesses 75ft back on big boards. We landed 28 nice eaters with the big fish coming at the end of the day a 26er. Ohio 27fow gold blades red beads. Had a great day fishing with my dad and brother on a trip i got from the Christmas party. Also on the boat was John Lewandowski from the club we all had a great day on the lake. I would highly recommend Greg's charter service to anyone looking for great fishing and good fun. June 22 - Bruce Snyder Caught a 2 man limit on bottom bouncers in the cuts around Celeron Island. Thought about going out into the big lake, but figured I would try these places again. Chartreuse/orange blades worked best. It was nice to see the white bass clearing out. June 18 - 3 man limit NW of West Sister Island. 2 oz bottom bouncers with #4 gold crawler harnesses worked best drifting 30-32 ft of water. Also caught them on weapons brass/copper blades worked best. Pulled boards for an hour picked up a couple more on blue/silver deep diving reef runners and bomber long A's. Was shopping at Cabela's by 2. Tight lines June 18 -
John Bielawski Eric Haroldson and myself fished the June
17th DWF tourney out near the bell buoy. We started pulling cranks and
spoons throughout the water column, beginning south of the bell buoy at
the Ohio line and working toward Fermi. We got into a few, then the boats
got too thick. We trolled due south of the buoy along the west side of the
channel, by 2:00 we pulled lines to head in but had gone through 60+
walleye most 19-21" with a 5 pounder. We ran spoons and cranks up in
the 12-14 foot depth in 24-26 FOW. Color did not matter, but jets worked
better than mini-discs. Speed was 2.0-2.2, we did have a spurt with 10
fish in 10 minutes. We also caught about 10 walleye in the 10-12"
range. Good to see those little guys! June 14 -
Pat Waite Went with Sparky in the afternoon to buoy 16 by
the McLouth Steel plant and we boated 8 nice eaters before we went back in
for some coffee and taking a break after a day of fishing. I fished the
morning with my friend Steve Boyer jigging next to Sugar Island and
finding nothing there but a few silver bass. We went out on the lake for
about 2 hours by the South end of the Banana Dyke and drifted with bottom bouncers
and harnesses. We only caught 8 boulder bumpers and there were plenty of
weeds due to the East wind. I will be out in the West Sister Island area
on Sunday, trying for some walleye there. I'll have my camera with me and
will be looking for those DWF tournament boats. If you see us, let us know
so we can get some good photos for the web site and newsletter. June 13 - Kurt Schroeder Tuesday,10 fish south east of Stoney point 16-17 ft gold and purple spinners 1.5 2 mph less weeds further out June 12 - Bruce Snyder June 11 - Fished all day with bottom bouncers and caught a 2 man limit south of Erie Metro Park and along Celeron Island. Walleyes came on gold, copper, and chartreuse blades; one fish went 22 1/2 inches. A lot of white bass around. Observed some jiggers doing good June 12 - John Sparkman Have
been getting 2 person limit pulling wire at banana dyke yesterday 6-11
lots of weeds and grass there no fishing there did get 8 in 2 different
spots. June 11 - Steve Campbell went out Sunday and fished all morning from 18 to 26 fow in front of stony point best luck in 26 fow 7 in a hour fish on purple spoons, crawler harness, and black/silver hot n tot. marked lots of fish. good luck! June 10 - Mark Schaller Woke up this morning and decided to go pull some wire for a bit. Went down to the Trenton Channel and I was a little surprised to not catch anything for the first 15 minutes. I began to wonder if it was possible that all the silver bass had left ??? EEEEEHHHHHHHH......wrong answer, I found them. After about a half hour of that madness I moved up to the end of West road where I was able to catch a few walleyes on a Belgium Flag colored spoon. Caught them on the west side of the #9 and #11 Green Bouy's. Not as many of those silver bass up that way. June 4 - Marty Myers Went out Sunday 2 man limit fished stony point 23-25 ft water all on spoons 65-70 back on dipsey killerbee was hottest spoon. Stinger spoons 2.0 to 2.5 mph Caught one on reef runner 120 back. Also ran 030 jets 60-80 back w/ not much luck lot of silver fish. June 4 - John Bielawski Fished
the DWF tourney 6.3 with Eric Haroldson and Bill Berwick. We caught our 3
man before noon. We were fishing south and west of the bell bouy in 23-24
FOW. Most fish came on crankbait or spoons on jet divers. Colors were
green or red/purple, mini-disc and spoons were not very productive. We
were attempting to upgrade when the BIG BLOW hit. Where was NOAA, no
warning; nothing, last report was fair and light breeze. There sure a lot
of boats heading in with us, I hope everyone was safe. That was some
finish to a day. P.S. One more item, if any of you are ever in heavy seas and raging sky, you need to have Bill Berwick with you, he sings a mean Gilligan's Island ballad June 4 - John Sparkman Sat 6-2 Limit 2 person east side of banana dyke spoons flyntiger and G.S.C. June 4 - Marc Dupuis Saturday June 2 Trolled at 1 mph with chartreuse crawler harnesses at south end of banana dike in 19.5 feet of water between 8am and 1030am. Wife and I got our limit of walleye, all 16" to 17". Walleye bite really picked up when we were leaving. Also, two nice yellow perch and quite a few white perch along with the usual number of silver bass. Can someone tell me when the white perch appeared in Lake Erie? The only reason I knew what they were is they showed up in Lake Champlain a couple of years ago and I get them there too. They are almost as good as yellow perch on the table so I'm not complaining. Silver bass I throw back. June 3 - Steve Schoonover Fished Sat June 2nd,trolled from Raisin to Fermi . picked up 2 man limit between Stoney Point and Fermi. On the water at 7:30 found fish around 8:30 had limits by 10am. used harnesses, gold blades, yellow beads. 22'-25'fow was best. Most fish were 18"-20". Must of had 75-100 silver bass. June 3 - Chuck Jones We fished by Fermi 18-22 feet of water spoons & mini's 50' back. Color didn't seem to matter, purple was probably the best. our GPS speed was between 1.8 & 1.9 May 31 - Jerry Hinton Tom
Taylor and I, along with Val Kilbie, fished out of Toledo Beach Marina
yesterday on Tom's boat and got 3 limits pulling plastic off big boards.
Mini dipseys and Stingers back 80' and Reef-Runners back 110' at 2.4-2.7
mph. All eaters and many, many silvers and white perch. Fished today off
Estral Beach and got my fish quick pulling meat and BB's near the Swan
Creek intake in 10-12fow. Speed was 1.0-1.4 mph and fish were 1.5-3.0 lbs.
For you guys in the Gibraltar/Trenton area, no need to run down the Stoney
Point or Brest Bay for your fish. Keep your tip up!!!!!! May 30 - Tim Compau Memorial Day, Started fishing at 5:00ish in the P.M. off Stoney Point in 20-23 FOW. Mid day May 29 - Mike Zielinski Now is the time to take a handful of kids and go silver bass fishing on the Trenton Channel in the lower Detroit River. This is one of the heaviest runs we've seen in years although the fish aren't real big they are plentiful and aggressive. 3/8 oz. jigs tipped with any colorful grub will produce cast after cast. Follow the birds. The fish will generally be along the windward side of the channel in 3 to 16 feet of water. Took grandson this AM and we worked off Horse Island and his arms got tired after 2 hours of constant abuse. May 29 - Eric Haroldson Fished Monday at the south end of the Banana Dike in 14-16FOW and didn't mark many fish or catch anything (except silver bass). I moved out in front of Fermi into 20FOW and caught 5 between 10:30 and 11:00. First fish came on a spoon and mini disk 55' back and the other 4 came on a crawler harness and bottom bouncer. I couldn't keep the silver bass off the spoon. Water temp was 62 degrees and very clean May 29 - John Bielawski Fished
Erie Sunday 5.27 with Eric Haroldson and my son. Tough day, wind, sun,
clouds, rain, sun you know. Pulled bouncers near Swam Creek in 12-14 FOW,
fish came in spurts. Boated 12 nice eyes but lost just as many, fish
pulled boards, fish on then fish off. Highlight of the day was a 10+ lb
channel catfish on a bouncer, one heck of a fight. Fish was so ugly my hat
abandoned ship never to be seen again. May 24 - Roy Burmeister Launched out of Bolles and caught two right away in 17 FOW on BB/harness. The one more in the next hour or so. Ended up in Brest Bay in 12 FOW to finish off a two man ticket, plus two jumbo perch. Lots of Silver bass and a few sheep too. Pulled spoons behind min-disks, hot-n-tots, and BB/harness. Color didn't seem too important; they were biting anything that swam by, but we used chrome/blue, chrome/black, hammered gold, and fire tiger. May 23 - Mike Barkley Went out of Bolles Harbor with Roy Griffith and Matt Dzieciuch. Trolled harnesses. Caught 10 and worked our tail off covering a good share of Lake Erie in the process. All were caught in 20/21 FOW and color seemed to make no difference. Didn't see or hear of many being caught out there May 21 - Bruce Snyder Launched from Ecorse and caught a limit of walleyes down from the Spark Plug and in front of the Hospital. A nice 20 incher came from the hospital area. I was jigging using mainly chartreuse/chartreuse green jigs with minnows or worms. Lots of white bass and some smallies in the river. Dupois May 12 - Saturday, lots of wind and could not fish
on Mother's Day account had to take the wife to brunch Sunday. Started at
Sugar Island and was just getting pestered to hell by the silver bass, so
I switched from rapalas to spoons and that helped a little, but still too
much work so I zipped up to the hole in the wall and bang, bang, picked up
two walleye just like that. On my upper lead I had a herringbone red
pattern spoon and bottom was a chartreuse spoon. Turned out chartreuse was
the color today. Got number 3 after a while and then went over to Canadian
CG for the first time this year and finished out in short order.
