Fillet Table - Quick & Easy
by Mike Barkley

Tired of putting a board across sawhorses (or other pain in the…. Methods) to make a fillet table?? Here is a quick (fairly), easy way to make a fully adjustable, portable fillet table.

All you need is a cheap ironing board (I really would suggest that you buy your own, as wives tend to frown on theis), a piece of Plexiglas and some nuts, bolts and washers ( Stainless Steel, brass, etc to avoid rust, and some nylon washers)

Take a piece of Plexiglas (you could probably use wood, but I don't think it would be as good, place it on the ironing board where you want it, drill 5 or 6 holes (I counter sank the holes so the bolt heads would not stick up) through both the Plexiglas and ironing board. And bolt it in place using nylon washers between the Plexiglas and ironing board so that the Plexiglass is raised up about ¼ to ½" above the board to make cleaning easier. I also randomly drilled holes in the Plexiglass for drainage. I did find out that drilling Plexiglas is not the easiest thing to do. It is very hard and it is helpful to put tape over the spot you are going to drill to keep from cracking.

The whole thing took me a couple of hours and all the parts were available at the corner hardware store.

The nice thing about this table is that it is adjustable and can be set at whatever height is comfortable for you. When you are done, it can be quickly hosed off and hung in the garage, shed, etc. When folded down, it takes up very little room in a pickup, SUV, etc
