by: Bob "Red" Piette How many times have you been in this situation? The fishing’s fast and furious, when all of a sudden you loose your lure. Quick now! Tie on another before they go off the feed or you pass the school of fish. Only, your fumbling around because your tackle looks like a bomb went off in side your boat. Nowadays, with all the tackle storage systems out there, you should be able to keep things organized. Take a look at your tackle, your boat and your method of fishing and you can create an organized system that works for you. For me, I like using plastic boxes like plano's 3700. It allows me to individualize each one for a specific purpose. Plastic grubs in one, straight tails in another. I’ve gone as far as setting up boxes for different fishing methods i:e handlining, open water trolling, bottom bouncing, jigging and so on. Lets say its springtime I only need to have jigging and handlining lures in the boat. I also mark each box with a waterproof marker telling me what the contents are. This makes it easy to find which box I need. So, as I said earlier, if you break off a jig (as my fishing partner has an occasion to do,) its easy to grab another and the hot plastic tail and your back in business. This also works real well when you're night fishing, like in the spring or fall. Every thing is in its place and easy to find in the dark. It can add a few extra fish as well. Oh, one little note, if any body has a good way of organizing bouncers let me know-please! Good luck and good fishing Bob Piette
