Dettloff using orange lead head and black shad minnow...Lost one nice
eater right at the boat. 5 other anglers out pulling wire and one said he
had caught one and lost a couple.
Cold weather with cloudy water... Left there at 9:45am and tried one drift
W side of Celeron with no fish in the boat. Water was very cloudy
today.
Oct 25 - Mark Schaller Went
down to the channel this morning. Started at the catamaran and had my
first fish in about 5 minutes. Picked up one more there and 3 others in
front of the discharge. Ended up going 5 for 6 on #11 GFR, Purpledesence
and a #9 Clown. Water was stained, 53 degrees and some weeds. Started
around 8:00 am and finished up about 10:30 am. Met Sparky afterwards and I
got to listen to some of his words of wisdom at lunch. After that I gave
blood at Ken's Blood Drive. I would say I had a full day.
Oct 24 - John Sparkman Trenton
channel limit lost 5 Early on purpledesent later G.F.R. all big fish
Oct 24 - Jerry Hinton Hit the
Trenton Channel at about 9:00am and landed my first walleye within 3
minutes. A nice 23" on a Hot Steel #9 rap on my 20' lead. Landed my
limit by 11:30 and most came on GFR Raps. Lost 3. Only other boat out this
AM was Sparky and he was getting fish too. Beautiful morning, few weeds
and clearing water. It will just get better now. Fish were all over
20" and biggest was 25". Hitting hard and many had big shad in
their bellies.
Oct 23-Ryan Hobson Weatherman says
5-10 from s/sw,so let,s go to Colchester. Leave around 7:30-8:00 from Rotary
Park/Trenton, glass calm to the lake, then....bam,15-25 south winds the
rest the way there. Hour and a half later we are drowning minnows. Fished
till 3:00 in 4-6's.Slow start but persistence paid off, the four of us
limited out(8-12") but we used 9 doz/shiners weeding thru the
dinks.25-30fow 1/2mi north west of heli-pad. Offical weigh in at the
cleaning station...60 lbs. Great day of perchin. Good luck out there, and
be safe.
Oct 16 - Mark Schaller Woke up this
morning around 6:00 am and after a quick peek outside and a check of the
weather radar I figured I had about a 4 hour window of opportunity. I
hooked up the boat and was on the water by 7:00 am. As expected the water
was dirty but I have fished in worse. Winds were out of the SW and that
made things a little bumpy by the Catamaran but up by the stacks it wasn't
bad. Caught 3 and released 2 between the above mentioned points of
reference. Fish came on a #9 Hot Steel Rap and a Riley Special spoon
(refer to picture). Surface temp was 59 degrees and hardly any weeds. I
quit around 10:00 am when the whitecaps started showing up on the river.
Couple of interesting things about this morning. First there were no junk
fish, all I caught were walleye. The bottom fish in the picture turned out
to be a female. (Click HERE
for picture) Last but not least, when I got home my cooler
had a bunch of dead 1 inch minnows in it. So much for fishing big lures
this time of year.
Oct 14 - John Sparkman Thurs 2

Oct 7 - Mark Schaller Went back out
to the channel again this morning. Want to know how I did? Copy and paste
Sparky's report from Friday here and you will know. Only difference is
that I caught all of mine on my last #9 blue Holographic Rapala before I
busted the lip on it.
Oct 9 - Robert Fusina Went
back to Colchester on Sat Oct 8th for the last trip of the season. Wife

light biters. Hope everyone has a good winter and see you next year.
Oct 9 - Robert Fusina Went to
Colchester on Oct 7th and got a limit of 50 perch in about 30fow. It took
about 3 1/2 hours to limit out

Oct 8 - Gary Wake. 8-10:30am Scott Dettloff and I started E side of
Celeron #4 Can and made several runs using Gumballs and Harnesses with no
results. Other Anglers not catching. Around 10am moved to W side and Scott
got a 19in 2 pounder right away and at 10:30 he pulled in a 24in 5 pounder

out there Sunday. Keep your head down as the Duck Hunters are shootin at
anything moving out there...
Oct 7 - Mark Schaller Went back
down to the channel tonight. Caught 2, lost 1 and picked up a 30 inch
Muskie. Like Sparky said.....the weeds are horrible. Spent most of the
evening clearing lines. All the fish came on a #9 custom painted
Rapala....Flying Tiger, white belly with an orange back and black stripes.
Water is clearing up nicely and the surface temp was 58.5 degrees.
Oct 7 - Gary Wake 8am to
10am...back at the #4 can and south. Got one 19in right away using a worm
harness, lime green in color. Then it went dead. Several other anglers
showed up around 9am and they didn't catch any. The water was more murky
than yesterday and there was no wind. Left there around 10am and tried
perch fishing N of Bannana Dyke with very poor results...Little perch and
not many of those...no one else was doing any better. On the way back
stopped and spoke with three anglers in one boat W side of Celeron who had
gotten 4 walleye. They were using different colors of gumball lead heads
and Wyandotte Worms.
Oct 6 - Gary Wake 10am to 12pm,
Drift Fishing between Celeron and Grosse Isle #4 Can and South through
channel caught 2, 2 pounders and lost 2. Several anglers doing well.
Couple anglers limited. 1 was using worm harness and others were jigging
with gumball lead heads. I was using a orange and yellow 1/2 oz gumball
with a fake minnow...put a little shinner on for good taste...
Oct 6 - John Sparkman 10-6 AM
Trenton channel.Out at 800-11.00 got 3 in first hour and nothing else than
small bass.all on # 9 clown.Weeds were BAD.
Oct 5 - Robert Fusina Fishing at
Colchester from 11.00am to 3pm with my better half. 30fow, ended up with a
total of 100 perch. Fishing was quite steady. Three back more than 40
smaller perch. It was a beautiful day to be out on the water.
Sept 29 -Mark Schaller Went
down to the Trenton Channel this morning to see if I could catch a few
walleye. Kept 2, lost 2 and threw back 2 small ones. I also caught about 2
dozen smallmouth ranging in size from 3 to 10 inches. The big surprise of
the day was the Steelhead I lost. Jump, splash, roll, gone. He hit and
orange and brass spoon on my short lead as I was pulling it up. The
walleye came on a #11 Clown and a #9 GFR Rapala. Water was a little dirty,
a few floating weeds and a couple of logs floating downstream. Surface
temp was 65 degrees.
Sept 25 - Jason Miller Went to
Wheatley 9-24-11 and fished for a couple of hours. Tried all of my
waypoints, nothing !!! Then tried all depths of water 60 to 15 fow. We
drove around most of the time looking for fish on the sonar. We didn't
mark anything no fish or bait anywhere!! Water was clear, wind was outta
the south 4 to 5 footers by time we were done. And we did stop at the
leamington boat ramp and talked to some locals, no walleye everybody was
perch fishing, and only about five cars in the lot. Looks like its time to
save some money and wait for the walleye in Huron !!!
Sept 23- Richard Flake Went
handlining on the Trenton Channel from 4:00 PM to 8:00 Pm. The action was
slow. Caught two eyes 18 and 20 inches about 10 minutes apart, using
crawler harness, and copper spoon. The copper spoon caught both fish.
Went out two days earlier in the same place and zeroed out accept for some
smallies.
I met up with DWF member Bob Gavenda on the Channel, who reported the same
results, but fared well on a good number of jumbo perch, taken on the
Lake.
Sept 18- Robert Fusina Fished
September 17th, south end of banana dike and metro park area about 5
hours. Caught 30 perch on shiners in about 15th fow, largest one was 13
inches long, even used a net on the big one, afraid of losing him.
Sept 17- Mike Donaldson pulled
wire last night, cold, 23 to 35 fow, 10 nice eyes, just north of Blue
Water bridge on Canada side you will see the boats every one was getting
fish 4pm til just after dark
Sept 12 - Charles Francis 4 men
fished for perch in Brest Bay 20 fow caught 55 small to medium.
Sept 3 - Jason Miller (Wheatley)
Went for walleye again with inline's and crawlers. We had our limit by
one. Fish were deeper than last weekend, 90 back at 1.4 mph was the
ticket, over 60 - 61 fow. Anything gold and orange worked well. Biggest
walleye was 8.5 lbs / 26". Also had two sheep's well over ten pounds
!!! Click
HERE for pic!
Sept 3 - Greg Warsow Perch
fished with longtime friend Steve Gorski. Ended up with only 25 fish, nice
fish. Had to hunt around today but a good day for running. Smaller fish
but large pod out on the MI/OH border. Click
HERE for pic!
Sept 2 - Robert Fusina August 27th
I fished out from Brest bay 20 fow, caught 48 perch on shiners. It took
about 4 hours to reach 48, thought I actually had 50, but miscounted. Still
happy.
Sept 1 - Greg Warsow - Perch
fished with Jerry Hinton & Terry Pickard. Again straight out from
Estral Beach, 18 FOW. Caught 54. Nice fish. Good company. Great
dinner! Click HERE for
pic!
August 28 - Greg Warsow Perch
fished with Mike Barkley, Bob Clark & John Lewandowski straight out
from Estral Beach, 18 FOW. Caught 58 plus 1 walleye...divided the perch 3
ways & took my 20 to Monroe to be cleaned. The 20 weighed 15
lbs....You do the math....all were jumbos! Fished all day so the action
was slow but the quality was well worth it. Caught a bunch of other stuff
too. Awesome Day!!! Can you say JUMBO? Click
HERE for pic!
August 31 - Jim Wong Manistee river
salmon are larger this year 17lb plus kings are being caught off my dock
using a glass green Shadrap rap at night at mouth of the manistee river.
August 28 - Greg Warsow Perch
fished with Tom Taylor near the Michigan/Ohio Border NW of Sputnik. 2 man
limit for 35 lbs. Kept nothing under 8 inches. Nice perch....Nice Day!!!
August 23- Richard Flake Handlined
in the Trenton Channel from 4:30 PM. -6:30PM. (quit early do to rain and
wind) Caught three Walleye 18-21 inches, and lost two. Caught over a dozen
small mouth and one rock bass. All fish were caught on a small polished
copper spoon, and a short lead.
August 22 - Bruce Stanley Fished yesterday afternoon from 3pm - 730pm with fellow members
John & Kathy Fowler. Made the run to Colchester Ontario. Fished 29 -
21 fow near the red marker buoy out side harbor. Fished in - lines with
harnesses with 1 1/2 oz inline weights. 40-55 feet back was the ticket
yesterday. 1.5 - 1.8 mph. Landed 15 walleye , with the biggest being
around 8 pounds. We've been fishing this area for the last week and a half
with great results. From where all the windmills start west of Holiday
beach to Colchester harbor 19 - 29 fow. Taking good numbers of fish with a
lot of 26-28 inch pigs
August 22 - Jason Miller Fished in
front of Fermi (18 to 22 fow), Stony Point (22 to 26 fow), and the bell
buoy (24 fow) this morning. Fished from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and only could
manage 2 walleye, 10 farm animals, 1 perch. THAT'S IT. Tried everything:
harnesses at 0.9 to 1.7 mph. every color blade and bead pattern. Then
tried jets and mini disc with spoons at 1.7 to 2.2 nothing on them but a
perch. Both fish came on a harness 28' back over 18 fow @ 1.0 mph. Talked
to other boats on the radio and three was the best i heard all morning.
Looks like the weather shut them down or they have moved out after that NW
wind all night, didn't mark anything on the graph all day.
August 22- Richard Flake Went out
handlining late Fri. afternoon on Trenton Channel. Caught 5 Walleye
16-17.5", lost three, threw back two smallies. All fish were caught
in 8-11 FOW. on West side of channel
August 20 - Jason Miller (Wheatley)
Went out this morning around 8 a.m. and ended up 9 for 12 on bows and 5
walleye. All but one "bow" came on riggers from 30 to 42 down.
Fished out by my waypoints where the gas rig was two weeks ago (we got 8
bow and 2 eyes from that area). Spoons: Capt. Nicks rainbow trout, Jerry
Lee, and Greasy chicken. Then started fishing our way back to the harbor
before the storm, we ended up trolling 1 oz. inlines with meat. We caught
the last bow on a 1 oz. inline 69 back going 0.9mph (Greasy Chicken
Blade). Had to cut it a little short with the storms that rolled in,
started to get the walleye going in about 50 f.o.w. straight out from the
harbor. All and all good day.
August 20 - Mark Schaller Went out
to the channel last night with Kelly and her son Adam. We got 5 and a
throwback and Kelly got her first walleye, a 24 inch, 4 pound Female
(copper/orange spoon). All of mine came on a #11 GFR. Water is still very
clear but lots of floating weeds. What I wouldn't give right now for a
good west wind.
August 19 - Greg Warsow - Fished
with relatively new member Sean Kelly by Fermi Plant in 19 to 22 fow.
North to south troll at 1.4 to 1.7 mph best speed. Crawler harnesses
behind 1 oz inlines, 33', 30' & 27' back. Again, Pink spinner &
Purple with black dots did the best. 12 fish 2 man limit from 9:30 am to
2:00 pm. Another Awesome day!
Aug 14 - Jim Wong Manistee river
sat rain bought fresh run of kings into mouth of the river. 20lb and 17lb
caught on glow madflash junior Thunderstick at night. Salmon splashing
around where river runs into lake.
August 13 - Jason Miller Fished Stony
Point this afternoon in 23 to 25 fow. Trolled with the wind 1.0 to 1.5 /
crawler harnesses behind 1 oz. inlines 40' to 25' back. Greasy Chicken
took most fish. Ended up with 7 keepers and threw back 4 short fish (One
was just over 6" / smallest walleye i ever seen).
August 13 - Greg Warsow - Fished
with Marc Verg by Fermi Plant in 24 to 22 fow. South to North troll at 1.4
to 1.7 mph best speed. Crawler harnesses behind 1 oz inlines, 35', 30'
& 25' back. Pink spinner & Purple with black dots did the best. 12
fish 2 man limit from 8:30 am to 11:30 am…3 hours…awesome day!
August 12 - Mark Schaller Went
out with new DWF member Richard Flake last night to pull some wire down in
the channel. We caught 6, lost 2 and very few junk fish. Walleye came on
#11 Copper Crazy Tiger, #11 Hot steel and a Pink Shiner spoon. Started at
7:30 and quit around 10:00 pm. Water is still very clear and only a few
floating weeds. Caught all the fish just North of the Catamaran and all
the way over to the discharge entrance.
August 11 - Greg Warsow - Fished
with Mike Barkley & his grandson Joe. East of Fermi in 20 to 21 fow.
18 Walleye & hardly any junk fish. Crawler harnesses with 1 oz.
inlines 35' to 25' back. 1.5 to 1.7 mph. About 5 hours for the wallies
then serchin' for perchin'
August 8 - Greg Warsow - Bad with
the good. Jigged the Amherstburg channel this morning from 9 til noon.
Landed 1 & lost 4 at the boat. Little critters just wouldn't stay on
for me to get the net in time. Better day next time. Chartreuse jig with
Mr. Twister Grub Chartreuse with Gold fleck. Tipped with night crawler. No
anchor sign down to park.
Aug 7 - Larry Tufts - Went out
with my partner Kurt Schroeder Sat Aug 6th out of Sterling. We started
straight out on the line at 26 to 27 fow mark. Some of the best action of
the year, had our limit by noon, with 3 fish over 5 lbs, one of them 7.6
lbs!!! Pink and purple tiger blades on 1oz inlines 50 to 60 ft back at 1.2
to 1.5 mph. Fish were low and slower speeds seemed to be the ticket.
Aug 6 - Greg Warsow - Burt Parker
& I jigged the Amherstburg Channel from 8:00 am - 12:30 pm. Caught 4
walleyes, kinda slow. 5/8 oz. Orange jig worked best with Wyandotte Worm
tipped with piece of night crawler. Up river near Royal Crown plant was
better than bouys at end of channel. Edge & middle of channel better
than near shore.
Aug 5 - Greg Warsow - Jigged the
Amherstburg Channel this evening from 4:30 - 8:30 pm. Caught 5 walleyes, 4
were nice fish & lost one at the boat. Not one junk fish. 5/8 oz. Chartreuse
& Orange jig worked best with Wyandotte Worm tipped with piece of
night crawler. Blue metallic jig did not work.
Aug 5 - Bruce Stanley Fished
late yesterday afternoon after having the boat out for two weeks for some
repairs- upgrades. Ran over to Canada and fished between Colchester and
Holiday beach. Beautiful , clear, algae- bloom and weed free water. Fished
from 6:15pm to 8:30 pm and boxed 13 walleyes. Fished 25 - 20 fow. Fish
were 18-20 feet down. Ran 1.5 oz inline sinkers and harnesses behind small
boards back 55 and 60 feet @ 1.5 - 1.7 mph. Pink and purple blades seemed
to take the most fish. Steady action , with lots of pullbacks , and a
great ride home with a beautiful sunset.
July 31 - Mike Barkley Greg
Warsow/Bob Clark/John Lewandowski/Bob Frank/Mike Barkley. After the great
Erieau tournament where DWF reclaimed the Golden Minnow Bucket and SWEPT ALL
PLACES, We stayed over and went perch fishing on Sunday. We kept a 5 man limit (250) and
threw back more than that!!! Started around 9 and were headed in at
1!! Fished in 8' of water off the church and never moved.
Minnows were getting low so we were cutting them in 2 or 3 pieces and even
used some pieces of shrimp.
It was a FANTASTIC day. Probably the best perch day I ever had!
July 25 - Robert Fusina On Sunday
7-24 I caught 43 yellow perch off of Stony Point in 20 feet of water. I
fished for about 5 hours. Shiners or whatever was swimming in the minnow
bucket.
July 23 - Greg Warsow - Caught 17
walleyes today. Just couldn't get that 18th for the 3 man limit. Fermi 20
fow. 3' waves subsiding to less than 1'. Harnesses behind Tadpoles - 40'
back on 1 oz. & 35' back on 3/4 oz. 1.4 to 1.7 mph. Algae dispersed
from wave action but still there. Nice day!
July 22 - Mark Schaller Dad
and I went down to the channel tonight (7/22). We caught 7 lost 1 and 1
throwback. Water is extremely clear but the weed mats were unbearable,
especially after dark. All on #11 Rapala's in Copper Crazy Tiger, GFR, Hot
Steel and Perch. The Perch caught the biggest walleye at 27 inches and
almost 7 pounds.
July 22 - Greg Warsow Fished
with 4 others today. Algae is in full bloom. Some areas like pea soup and
smelled awful. No wind and very hot. Went thru a case of water. Ran
harnesses with 1 oz inlines, 55 - 35 back & two 3 oz. bottom bouncers.
BB's took most of the fish. enden up with 7 eaters PLUS one that was
29" @ 8.25 lbs. on a board 45' back (Red & Silver blade) and a
couple nice perch. Fished Banana Dike 20 fow. 1 mile south of Raisin River
end buoy in 23 - 25 fow. and Ohio border at the Turnaround Light - 27 -28
fow. Got of the water just before the thunder showers hit.
July 20 - Greg Warsow Fished
the Amherstburg Channel tonight for 2 hours. 5/8 oz. Chartreuse jig with

had to go 20 pounds....Baaaaaaaad
July 20 -Bruce Stanley Fished this
morning with fellow member John Fowler between Fermi & Bell buoy in 21
fow. Pulled small boards & 1 oz inlines with harnesses 25 - 35 feet
back @ 1.6 mph. Fastest walleye action of the year so far. Started a
little before 8 and had 2 man limit by 9:30. Fish were 10 - 14 feet down
,and definitely on the feed. Color really didn't matter everything was
working. Great day-home b-4 the heat got bad
July 17 - Greg Warsow - Fished with
3 others again. 9:00 am - 12:30 pm. Same program as yesterday the 16th.
Trolled a little closer to Banana Dyke to 15 fow. 12 walleyes. One was
27" & 6 plus lbs.
July 16 - Greg Warsow - Fished with
3 others. South East wind with 2 footers. Started 1/2 mile west of the
restricted area of Ferm and trolled to south end of Banana Dyke. 8:30 am

1.4 to 1.7 mph. 20 to 19 fow. Ended up with 22 walleyes & 1 nice
perch. Searched for perch in the evening south Celron Island. Caught 5
nice jumbos and some little guys. Perch season is looking good!!

3 others. East wind with 2 - 3 footers to start. Started at Bell Bouy and
ended up Fermi restricted area. 1:30 TO 5:30 pm. Harnesses as usual with 1
oz inline weights. 40 - 28 back. 1.4 to 1.7 mph. Ended up with 15
walleyes.

the south end of the banana dike ,we trolled 2oz bouncers
at 1.5 -1.8 mph best color was purple and green blade with a gold backer.
See ya out there heading back out in the am .
July 15 -Bruce Snyder Fished Thurs. July
13th in front of Erie Metro, and around Celeron Island, we had a 2 man
limit and must have had around 20 walleyes on that day (including 4 or 5
short ones). Using bottom bouncers with gold and or chartruse blades.
Because of north winds making us move to fast, switching to Indiana blades
from Colorado blades in the afternoon made the difference.
July 14 -Bruce Stanley Fished Tues
July 12 with John Fowler @ Erieau. Finally found some steelies in 65 fow
off the point. About a 120 heading 6.5 miles from port. Caught em 35-45
down on riggers and 125 back with 40 jet divers . Typical Erieau spoons-
