2008 Jim Territo, Detroit River Charity Walleye Tournament April 12th, 2008

Rules

Please be aware that although there are few rules, they WILL be enforced 100% with no exceptions!! The final decision on all rules will be the responsibility of the Tournament Director.

 

  1. This is a big fish tournament. Teams will weigh in one walleye/sauger/saugeye (their largest) per boat and the winner’s are determined by heaviest weight.
  2. In the event of a tie in weight, the fish having the longest overall length will determine the winner.
  3. This is a river only tournament with the boundaries being identified as the south end of Sugar Island and the north end of Belle Isle
  4. Each boat entered in the tournament must have a BOAT NAME.
  5. The Tournament Director assigns an entry number to each Boat, when the paperwork and payment are received.
  6. Tournament entries will close at 8 p.m. on the Wednesday before the scheduled tournament. 
    1. The number of boats, launch times, participants, money to charity and anticipated payouts will be posted on both websites by the end of Thursday, April 10th
  7. The Boat Captain is responsible to go to the web page or call the tournament director for their entry number prior to launching
    1. Check either website  http://www.mssfa.com/huron_valley/Default.htm and or http://www.dwfonline.com/ for your entry number and launch times.
  8. Participants will launch from Elisabeth Park

    2. You must check in with the Tournament (at the weigh in tent) prior to launch, beginning at 6:30am.
    3. In the interest of speed, please do any pre-rigging of equipment and boats in the parking lot, not on the ramp.
    4. Members of Tournament Team, (wearing an orange vest) will assist in coordinating boat launching.
  9.  Weigh-in will be at Elisabeth Park. You must be in line to weigh in by the deadline or any angler on that boat will be disqualified from the Charity Tournament.
  10. If more than 50 boats enter the tournament, then the paid participants will be split into two groups based on their assigned entry number.
    1. Example… if 75 boats entered  then the first 38 boats will launch at 7am and pull lines at 2pm, weigh in to start at 3pm
    2. Example…if 75 boats entered, then the second group of 37 boats will launch at 7:30 am and pull lines at 2:30pm, weigh in to start at 3:30pm
  11. The Tournament Director, boat Name “Nacho Nitro” will monitor and communicate on channel 68. Tune in at 7:00 am on tournament day for any announcements
    1. If for any reason, you will not be able to or choose not to go to the weigh-in, for reasons of safety, please contact the Tournament Director on Channel 68 and let them know soon as possible prior to the weigh in.
  12. Contestants are required to abide by all U.S. and Canadian Coast Guard, DNR/MNR rules/regulations.
    1. NOTE: Side pots are allowed. Any rules, regulations and such applied to any side pot are the sole responsibility of the person organizing the side pot. Any side pot that is organized may use the tournament scales after the weigh in and awards presentation is complete for the Charity Tournament.

 

Tournament money is distributed as follows –

 

40% of entry fee will go to prize money

10% of entry fee will go to tournament expenses. Any leftover expense money is put into the charity money

50% of entry fee will go to a charity that will be identified prior to the tournament


 

Breakdown of payouts can be from as little as 4 boats participate = 1 cash prize payout, or as large as 150 boats participate = 25 cash prize payout.

 

NOTE: Any who do not place in the prize money, are automatically entered into the door prize drawings to be held immediately following cash prize presentations.

 

  1. Winners must pick up their prize money during the awards ceremony (after the weigh in) of the tournament. Any who fail to pickup their prize money, and the money will be put into the charity money NO EXCEPTIONS!!!!
  2. Fishing times can be changed at the discretion of the Tournament Director.
  3. Entry forms may be picked up at Huron Valley Sport Fishing Club or DWF meetings, Andy’s Tackle or Bottomline Bait & Tackle, or on the web pages of either club.
    1. Top portion with payment to be turned in at Huron Valley SportFishing Club or DWF meetings. You cam also write a check or M.O. made out to the “Huron Valley Sport Fishing Club”, then mail to Billie Jo Cruz, at 18616 Koester St., Riverview Mi, 48193. No entries after 8pm on April 9th, 2008.
  4. No alcoholic beverages or illegal substances may be consumed or in the possession of any contestant or guest during this tournament, or at the weigh-in site during tournament hours. Once the weigh-in is over, the tournament is considered over. After this time, the Huron Valley Sport Fishing Club or D.W.F. is NOT responsible for the actions of any persons that participated in the tournament.
  5. All protests must be filed with the Tournament Director by close of scales. A protest fee of $50.00 will be required for a protest to be considered. If the protest is upheld, then the money will be returned to the protester. If the protest is not upheld, the money will be awarded to the contestant or team being implicated.
  6. Contestant(s) that are disqualified will forfeit all tournament entry fees and any winnings for the Charity tournament. Contestant(s) that are disqualified may be refused entry to future Charity tournaments.
  7. All questions, judgments or problems during a tournament will be referred to the Tournament Director. The Tournament Director has sole authority and jurisdiction in determining the application of the Tournament rules & Regulation and subsequent penalties.
